My new listing is one we restorationists dream about.. A period-correct, vintage-styled, restoration/remodel!
Take one informed owner + one slightly rough but mostly original house + a lot of hard work and you have a dream home!
Lisa and Vic purchased their 1938 English style home when it was quite rough. The original kitchen was darling, but had seen better days. Together with the fine workmen at Arciform, they re-created the original cabinetry including glass pulls from Rejuvenation Hardware and Pratt and Larson tile. Finishing off the vintage look, they used oak flooring, wood-framed modern Tilt-pack windows, and restored a very rare chrome ventilation fan! Updating the cabinetry dimensions for modern appliances and city code, the style is reminiscent of 1938 but totally usable today.
They did such a fantastic job, the home was featured in the Oregonian’s Home and Gardens, and on the Architecture Heritage Center’s “Kitchen Revival Tour” in 2014.
Beyond the kitchen, the sellers have focused on the whole main floor of the home, restoring the leaded glass windows, phillipine mahogany, hardwoods, picture rail, and even the plaster. The bathroom is also original, with deco tile and solid bullnosed edged cast iron tub!
As for the exterior, Craftsmen Design handled the remodel, installing new cedar shake, insulation, tuck pointing the brick work and rebuilding the chimney!
Of course, we love living in vintage detail, but there’s a certain reality that comes with cast-iron pipes and 100 amp electrical service, so Lisa and Vic updated those too, in fact they updated all sorts of things!
Updates include:
- 30-year roof w/tear-off and new decking (15 years old)

Worried there’s nothing to work on? The sellers focused on the mechanicals and the main floor, but there’s still love to be spread in the basement. So many rooms, so much space, one fantastic marble fireplace! What could you make it?
